ELCS Team

On the 2/3/2023 Easy Living Care Solutions (ELCS) was very pleased to receive the successful outcome of our mid-term NDIS audit. The report from Australian Quality Certification demonstrates that ELCS provides a high standard of participant centered care across all NDIS Practice Standards and related quality indicators, including Operational Governance and Management systems and statutory and regulatory requirements in place to safeguard participants.

Everyone at ELCS has worked very hard over the past year to ensure that our systems and procedures were of a high standard and complied with NDIS expectations. ELCS has been able to assist our participants to fully utilize their NDIS plans and navigate the complexities of the NDIS to ensure they receive the care and support required to meet their everyday needs and lead fulfilling lives.

As well as thanking all ELCS staff who have been involved in this process, we would like to acknowledge the support provided by the Vertex Consulting & Compliance Group who provided much appreciated advice on preparing for the audit. Waleed and Faraz Khan were particularly helpful and patient in responding to our many questions. Last but not least our participants have also played a central role in the audit process by providing positive and constructive feedback on the care they have received. These comments and suggestions for improvement are highly valued by ELCS as they provide ideas on ways, we can continually strive toward the high standards of care that we pride ourselves on.

Given that participants and staff have all contributed to the successful audit outcome, Mary Riek and the management team wanted to sincerely thank everyone for their support.

A celebratory dinner was organized at the Lynbrook Hotel, on the 3rd of April with staff enjoying an All You Can Eat International buffet and generally letting their hair down. We didn’t know it, but we have several world class fashion models in the team including Pawanpreet and Neetika. As well as dressing up everyone enjoyed the opportunity to network and catch up on a years’ worth of news. It made us realize how important these events are in connecting the team as support workers often work on their own with limited opportunities to exchange ideas on best practice approaches to care. This is something we hope to address in the coming months by creating opportunities for team professional development sessions.

On the 31/3/2023 we also organised an Easter BBQ, Karaoke and Dance session for all ELCS participants. Unseasonably rainy weather meant that we had to relocate our celebration from Lysterfield Lake to our large and spacious ELCS Supported Independent Living Accommodation in Cranbourne.

Despite the weather, we had a great time with lots of yummy Afghan and Sri Lankan food and a dance session led by Emotion21. Some of us were a bit nervous about showing off our dance moves but Tristan Sinclair, who facilitated the session started with a very relaxing and calming routine, breaking up complicated dance expression moves into bit size segments. Before we knew it, we were all excelling as performing arts students and ready to form the ELCS theater production team. Stars of the day included our very own Mary Riek and Hilary Bucumi but James, Donna, Mary P, and Sarah Reath where very close seconds with their moves on the electric guitar. By the end of the day even the die-hard non-dancers in the group had had a ball.

For those of you interested in dance here is a little bit of information about Emotion21 and a link to their website: Click here
